中文是世界上最古老的语言之一，更是延续中华五千年文明最重要的载体。今天4月20日，是第十三个国际中文日。联合国于2010年倡议设置“国际语文日”，以庆祝和纪念语言和文化的多样性，也是为了促进六种工作语言在联合国的平等使用。

Chinese is one of the oldest languages in the world, and it is the most important carrier for the continuation of the Chinese five thousand years civilization. April 20, is the 13th International Chinese Language Day. In 2010, the United Nations initiated the establishment of the International Day of Languages to celebrate and commemorate linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote the equal use of the six working languages in the United Nations.

国际中文日设置在今天，更是为了纪念“中华文字始祖”仓颉造字的贡献。据《淮南子》中记载，“昔者苍颉作书，而天雨粟，鬼夜哭。”恰恰是中国传统农历二十四节气之一“谷雨”的日子。“谷雨”即“雨生百谷”，每年从“谷雨”开始，降水明显增多，万物生长，尤其是粮食谷物更是需要雨水的滋润，所谓“春雨贵如油”。

The International Chinese Language Day was set at today for commemorating the contribution of Cangjie, the "ancestor of Chinese characters", who created Chinese characters. Starting from "Grain Rain" , the Rainfall increases significantly, Everything growth thriving , especially grains needs the nourishment of rain. So it was called in a ancient poetry that "spring rain is as precious as oil".
